2020 Abersoch 10K and 3K Cancelled

Due to COVID-19 and local concerns & decisions (Updated Fri 7th Aug 2020)

Our fears have now been realised and we have no choice but to cancel this years Abersoch 10K and 3K Beach Race.

We are gutted to have to make this call but recent developments have now meant we are left with no choice. The general improvements of the numbers of cases of COVID-19 are now heading in the opposite direction and we’re seeing the reintroduction of restrictions in place for many areas where people come from to take part in the races.

This comes at a time when there is now mounting concern over the large number of visitors that are coming to the area. This is great news for local businesses and trade but as social distancing isn’t possible in many spots in Abersoch and illegal parking is happening more and more, we’re now seeing local MPs and councillors with big concerns of the potential that this could lead to a fresh spread of Covid-19, jeopardising people’s health. This means Gwynedd Council is not currently allowing events to take place with no immediate timeline to change this.

We’re truly gutted having spent so much time and effort preparing the race to be able to go ahead safely, planning to have systems and resources in place to meet all the additional rules and guidelines that are set by UK Athletics and the government.
